ABOUT US

First Pentecostal Church was founded in October of 1947 by Sis. Oma Ellis. Sis. Ellis felt a burden for Yuma, a small, desert farming and ranching community in the southwest corner of Arizona. She came to Yuma by herself, purchased property and a small house trailer where she began to hold services. Soon, a family and three students she taught in a Bible College moved to Yuma to assist her. They erected a tent and held services in the tent until they purchased barracks from the Marine base. They built a church building and turned the barracks into the parsonage and classroom/fellowship hall.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We must realize that we are sinners.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 3:23

We must believe in God, and have faith that He can save us.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

We must repent of our sins. This is to be sorry for our sins and determine,

with God's help, to forsake our sins.

For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation...

II Corinthians 7:10

We must be baptized in water, in the name of Jesus Christ, and

receive the Holy Ghost, which is the regenerating power of God.

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Acts 2:38-39
